The event is organized under the Ministry of Culture, ensuring authenticity, inclusivity, and engagement for people of all ages
Sana Qatar – A Symbol of Brightness and National Pride
According to Mr. Al-Shayji, one of the event organizers, Sana Qatar has witnessed a massive turnout since the very first day. This unique addition to Darb Al Saai activities was held under the umbrella of the Ministry of Culture and designed to ensure a smooth flow of visitors, with separate entry and exit points to accommodate large crowds easily.
The name “Sana Qatar” is derived from the local Qatari dialect meaning “bright light” — symbolizing Qatar’s progress, achievements, and its glowing presence in every field, from culture and education to technology and art.
The event design and decorations also reflect this symbolism, shining with creativity, lights, and modern exhibits that capture Qatar’s cultural radiance.
Music Affairs Center: Showcasing Qatar’s Musical Heritage
The Music Affairs Center joined the Darb Al Saai National Day Celebrations with a spectacular exhibition for the first time.
Mr. Khaled Hassan Al-Salem, Director of the Center, said the exhibition is a chance for the public to explore both traditional and modern music instruments and understand their importance in Qatar’s history.
This music exhibition includes four key sections, each representing a part of Qatar’s musical evolution:
- Heritage Section – Displays historical musical instruments such as Al-Marwas and Al-Yahya, which were used in sea songs, Ardah performances, and women’s folk arts.
- Musical Instruments Section – Highlights instruments used in Arabic and international music including the oud, flute, violin, cello, and piano, showing how Qatari musicians combine local and global art.
- Recordings Section – Demonstrates the development of recording machines from the 1930s until today, tracing the shift from vinyl to CDs and modern digital formats.
- Libraries Section – Features books about oriental and international music, plus two dedicated pavilions honoring late Qatari musicians, displaying their personal instruments, artworks, and recordings.
A special oud-making workshop is also part of the exhibit, led by a skilled craftsman who demonstrates every stage of oud creation — from selecting the right wood to adding final artistic touches.
This exhibition will remain open throughout the Darb Al Saai celebrations, with daily musical activities and live sessions.
Al Razji: Reviving Qatari Heritage During Ramadan
Another major event held at Darb Al Saai, Umm Salal, is Al Razji, which continues until March 14. Organized by the Ministry of Culture, Al Razji celebrates Qatar’s deep-rooted customs, Ramadan traditions, and national identity.
The event features several cultural zones including:
- Al Rumaila and Al Bidda areas
- “Eid Joy” and “Garangao” zones for gift distribution
- Multiple exhibitions and workshops open to the public
Mr. Abdullah Al Ghanem, supervisor of the heritage corridor, shared that Al Razji highlights Qatar’s traditional lifestyle during Ramadan — featuring goldsmithing, embroidery, women’s attire, and musical sound points where visitors can listen to folk songs, Garangao chants, and heritage performances.
The event offers a perfect blend of heritage exhibitions, popular Qatari cuisine, and live performance arts, creating a charming Ramadan ambiance for families.
Visitors are welcomed daily from 7:30 PM to midnight, making it an ideal post-Iftar destination for cultural exploration.
Creative Space – Learning Through Innovation
Adding an educational twist to Darb Al Saai is Creative Space, part of QCRI’s (Qatar Computing Research Institute) contribution to the celebrations.
This engaging zone offers interactive workshops and STEM-based activities such as robotics, 3D pen art, and circuit building for children aged 12 and under.
Through these fun, hands-on sessions, kids learn problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity — perfectly aligning with Qatar’s goal to encourage a knowledge-based society.
Over the 10-day National Day event, hundreds of children participate, gaining valuable skills while enjoying themselves in a safe and creative space.
